Valmont Delivers Durability and Elegance on Trinity River Bridges
When the City of Dallas embarked on the journey of building three roadway and pedestrian bridges across the Trinity River, world-known architect Santiago Calatrava was hired to help with the design. While Calatrava was capable of delivering exceptional plans for the bridges, the city soon began looking for a partner that could provide high quality light poles to execute the Calatrava look on the pedestrian paths and roads.
Valmont’s curved Idyline poles were well received by the city, but to ensure total customer satisfaction, Valmont used its custom design capabilities to tailor the poles to include the exact features the city sought after. Because of its upscale street lighting profile and 100% corrosion resistance, aluminum was chosen as the material for all poles. Valmont specially engineered taller roadway poles to ensure that joints met the requirements set by the higher mounting heights and longer arms. In addition, bracket savers and vibration dampeners were installed to ensure the longevity of the structures.
The first project, Margaret Hunt Hill Bridge, was completed in 2012. Because of the seamless collaboration, Valmont continues to be the trusted pole supplier for all of the remaining Trinity River bridges.
