Combining Decorative and Utility Lighting in Downtown Omaha, NE
When the Omaha Public Power District (OPPD) needed a utility lighting solution to match the aesthetics of downtown Omaha, NE, Valmont® Structures provided a unique decorative lighting solution. The OPPD is a publicly owned electric utility, serving over 855,000 people in Omaha and surrounding counties in Nebraska. They partnered with our agent, Electrical Products Company, to provide lighting throughout Omaha, creating versatile pole assemblies to complement specific neighborhoods and areas throughout the city.
Downtown Omaha’s lighting needed to match the historic aesthetics of the brick cobblestone streets and quaint storefronts found throughout the area. Our Fluted Round Tapered Steel Poles provided the clean lines perfect for the environment. The evenly spaced 16 sharp fluting pattern in addition to the even fluting starting points found in these poles are a testament of engineered workmanship and beauty. Valmont's engineering expertise also aided in adding signage, some of which can be seen in the below pictures. This expertise was used to verify the structural adequacy of our poles and our drafting skills ensured a proper fit.
Our Renaissance AC1 Clam Shell Base Cover paired with our fluted round tapered steel poles to complete Downtown Omaha’s pole assembly. Valmont’s durable, high-quality aluminum casting added clean, crisp details to accentuate the historic design. Our clam shell bases also allow for quick and easy assembly to new or existing poles.
Finally, a Black Mid Gloss coating pulled the design together. View some of these pole assemblies to the left.
