A bridge-building bundling project designed to address structurally deficient bridges, located throughout the state and maintained by separate county agencies, required the Michigan Department of Transportation to collaborate and find solutions that were acceptable to all constituents — while making the best use of the budget available.
Challenges:
Nineteen locally owned bridges across the state in serious or critical condition, with a completion window of 60 to 90 days each.
Solution:
Bundling 157 U-BEAM™ galvanized steel press-brakeformed tub girders, construction accessories, stamped design and shop drawings, as well as stamped load rating.
